Firstly, thanks Steven for this framework and the support you provide through the forums  Wink. This was our first project with Gaia and Papervision3D. The site also uses AMFPHP to fetch data from the database. Gaia certainly has made this site feature rich (SEO, deep linking etc.) and helped us eliminate the regular mundane tasks. We ran into some problems in early times with event hijacking (locked up the site) but it is such a powerful feature and needs to be used very carefully. Also, it is not important to hijack events all the time, sometimes it's good to just listen to them too!  Grin

Hi Kirit,

Great site - and especially intriguing for me as I am also currently working on a site employing Gaia as the framework with navigation and most content rendered a 3d world constructed with Papervision. I have had an impossibly difficult time finding examples that show best-practices knitting these two great libraries together so thought I would ask what your challenges were. I'm particularly interested in how to leverage Gaia for its asset preloading while still managing to pull those assets into a 3d scene. I'm currently thinking of hijacking transitions such that I would apply the resultant page swf loaded by Gaia as a material on a plane. Does that sound about right based on your experience or is hijacking even necessary in this case if I've added an asset SWF that would be accessible on transition completion?

Sorry for all the questions!

Anyway - again excellent site. If you or anyone else out there has worked with PV3D and Gaia, I'd appreciate any insights or direction to other reading materials.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi jmarlin,

Glad you liked the site  Smiley
You can use the assets you are loading with the framework as materials once they're loaded. It would mean that you need to preload the assets you need before the specific page is loaded. You can hijack the transition-in event to build your scene and show it once it's ready until which you can continue to display your preloader.

I'd suggest that you post your queries in the other forums (as this one is specifically meant for showcase) that way others would also be able to help you.

Thanks!

Brilliant work on this Kirit. You've got such an excellent balance of the music for the ambience tied in directly with that wicked backdrop. I feel like booking a ticket for an Istanbul holiday right now  Wink

The website is very resourceful from their various food menus. The place is an eye-catching, and you see it has a comfortable environment. In this coming holiday, I decided to go in this restaurant.
