Visuell Interactive Prototype

www.visuellinteractive.com
Developed by
Visuell Interactive
in Pasadena CA, and Charlotte NC.
Visuell Interactive, an interactive design and development agency, decided to prototype out our new website using Gaia Flash Framework, and we wanted to get the site designed and up live within 2 weeks. The soft launch of the
Gaia Prototype Site
was a huge success, and served as a platform to build upon for the
HTML/Flash hybrid site

I think it looks really good. Too bad you don't have a custom preloader when it shows up as much as it does.

Agreed. That will be part of the "cool features" that we are adding now. Also, we are making a nice little "featured work" function, where bubbles will be coming out of the man on the homepage's pipe, with the featured work in the bubble. You will be able to "pop" the bubble and view the work.

Very similar. I've never seen this before, but it is a nice site. The navigation for Visuell is based off of my own portfolio site
www.aarondavidmccoy.com
and an old rotating flap clock (see pic). I love having the main navigation vertically based (instead of the standard horizontal bar) with subnav and content stacked horizontally.
Thank you for pointing this out. The navigation is a little too close for my own comfort level, and might need to move some things around.

Yeah, and come to think of it, the designer(s) of that other site probably got their idea from a clock such as that!
I think differentiating it wouldn't be that hard. Perhaps you could get rid of the numbering for the sections (although neat, they're not necessary, and it is one of the things that links the two sites in a more obvious way), maybe change the dotted separation line slightly, or maybe give the two sidebars slightly different shades/colors. I think small things like that will definitely help make your site different. Just some ideas.

Now you have given me a good idea. Looking at the clock from our mood board, we could incorporate the standard hand clock in the lower left hand corner, and the hand could move to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 o'clock marks for each section.

Hi,
I like your site as I was checking it out, however I get put off by the download speed.
Seems to take a long time here, and I skip off because I don't want to wait.
When I did wait it out I was a little dis-satisfied because the page was just a small amount of text and images.
So when I waited for the next page and it preloaded some text, I didn't feel it was worth the wait to receive what was coming.
If you could crunch the file sizes down, or maybe load in something small and then call the rest of the assets once the page has loaded it might hold attention down.
This connection I don't think is uberfast but it is broadband.

Thanks for the feedback. The site was output with the large png images at full quality, and perhaps a less "perfect" looking page would help the experience as far as loading time is concerned.
Thanks again.

ON an unrelated note. I took a look at your portfolio site
http://www.aarondavidmccoy.com/resumeURL.php
under the clients section all the image links are broken. You might want to fix that.

Ok, what in the world? Check out this link that has somehow grabbed our source files - although I have no idea how.

We have recently updated the prototype site with a new preloader, moving life images, and some other cool features as we continue to learn and explore all that Gaia has to offer.
Check out update
