http://www.designbygrain.com/
Developed by Rich Hinchcliffe @ TMRW™ for Grain Design (UK) Ltd, Leeds, UK

All the design work for the new Grain website was done by them so I can't take any credit for that. The person they originally asked to do the Flash build had to drop out so that left them coming to me with a relatively short time-scale and budget asking for their new design to be built up. Only a week or two before I'd come across Gaia and thought it'd be a good project to learn some basic AS3 on and get my head around the framework.

I'm no coder and balk at the thought of doing PHP or JavaScript etc, but AS3 was (for the most part) easy enough to get my head around. What made the whole process pretty painless though was the decision to utilize the Gaia Framework. It wasn't immediately obvious to me how it all worked, especially the class programming structure (at least not obvious to my designer brain), but with help from the forums and particularly Steven himself I had it sussed in no time and any questions/problems I had were very quickly sorted. I'm sure Gaia is easily capable of way more than I've made it do on designbygrain.com, and I'm looking forward to using it again.

If you want to take a look at the structure of the site it's here, site.xml. All the images and copy in the 'Selected Work' section of the site are loaded using dynamic externalized assets, via XML files like this one (brandingAssets.xml).

Kudos for a great site!  Cool

I really like your custom preloader and the way you're using indexFirst to load in your custom assets and assign them at runtime using addAssets(), and still using the rest of the xml for other section data.  Very nice!
